Temporary Supply Brain Injury Teacher and Support Worker  

 

WORKING FROM:                  New Headway House, North Road, Stoughton, Guildford, Surrey GU2 9PU.

 

JOB PURPOSE:                       To cover long-term staff sickness in a temporary supply role. 

 

The role will be to deliver when needed a group session(s) to 10-12 adult clients with brain injury on a Thursday and also related client admin.  

 

The group have a mid-morning session from 11am-12noon on issues that impact their lives and living with brain injury.  The role will involve delivering sessions and holding group discussions on memory skills, information processing strategies, managing fatigue, behaviour and emotions, assertiveness, planning and well-being, etc.

 

The afternoon session is held from 1-2.30pm which is a mixture of art, board games, boccia, cooking or discussions.  This is mainly client led.  All sessions are supported by volunteers.

 

Some client admin may be involved, such as preparing worksheets, making telephone calls, sending emails and recording of details, issues arising and individual goals etc on Charity Log CRM system (training will be given).

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:                   CEO/Office Manager

 

CONTRACT:                            Temporary supply hourly contract

 

HOURS PER WEEK:                3-6 hours per week

 

HOURS OF WORK:                 Thursday 9am-3pm

 

HOLIDAY:                               25 days pro rata

 

PROBATION:                                1 month

 

SALARY:                                          £15 p h.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:                 After induction:

  • To deliver Thursday 10-11am day centre sessions and/or afternoon sessions 1-2.30pm.

 

  • To plan session activities in conjunction with Rehabilitation Coordinator.

 

  • To ensure centre sessions start and finish on time.

 

  • To report to Office Manager any significant issues or safeguarding issues arising from the sessions and if applicable record on CRM.

 

  • To ensure the safety and welfare of individuals supported by Headway Surrey.

 

  • To ask volunteers to support individuals during session.

 

  • To ensure the main room is tidy and resources for sessions are ready.

 

  • Client admin may include telephone calls and email and recording on CRM.

 

  • To have weekly check-in and supervision with Office Manager as required.

 

  • To carry out other reasonable duties relating to the role as directed by the Office Manager.

 

INITIAL KEY TASKS                 To undertake the basic induction program provided in-house which will include familiarisation of centre and observing a Headway Surrey Centre Day being run by another member of staff, plus CRM training.

                                                          

OTHER                                    No personal care of clients is undertaken.  Clients who need this type of support will have a PA/carer in attendance.
