14 Sept 2019 - Surrey 5 Peaks Hikeathon for Headway Surrey
This event is organised by Surrey Care Trust and they invite other charities to take part and raise funds for their own charity, which is how you can raise funds for Headway Surrey and see some lovely countryside!!
13 or 26 miles
Starting from the ancient village of Mickleham, we climb over Mickleham Downs onto Headley Heath where we scale Middle Hill.
Then it’s onto the North Downs Way and east over a series of hills, including Colley hill with its well-known water tower, and Reigate Hill.
We then descend, skirting Gatton Park, managed by the National Trust, before arriving at our lunch stop in the busy but charming market town of Reigate.
Once refreshed we pass through the oldest tunnel road in England and via Reigate Priory to join the Greensand Way.
Going westward we pass over Reigate Heath to Betchworth, mentioned in the Domesday Book and Brockham, which stages what is reputed to be the largest November bonfire in England.
We then follow the old Coach Road before traversing Box Hill to arrive back at Mickleham.
