Chief Executive Officer
Sonja Freebody has lived in and around Guildford for most of her life, she joined Headway Surrey in 2017. Sonja previously spent over 14 years successfully running and expanding the Surrey based Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC). She then gained experience working with different local charities such as the Whiteley Homes Trust, Transform Housing and Support, GASP Motor Project, Samson Centre for Multiple Sclerosis, Wey Kayak Club and River Thames Boat Project. She is recognised as a Full Member of the Institute of Fundraising. She is an active volunteer in the local community and won the Guildford Mayor's Award for Service to the Community in 2013.
Finance & Admin Manager
Maggee joined Headway Surrey in 2015, she has lived and worked in and around Guildford all her life, starting out as a junior secretary for a knitwear company in Farncombe before holding numerous positions at a brewery, a publishing company and an examination board. Maggee was self-employed as a Secretary/PA/Bookkeeper for 10 years whilst raising her two children. An extremely well organised and professional member of staff, deputising for the CEO.
Chloe joined Headway Surrey in 2013 as a Support Worker and was promoted to Services Coordinator. In 2017 she left to spend a year in Australia, working at the Commonwealth Games. In 2018 she returned to the UK and to her original role. She has vast experience of special educational needs and brain injury and combines her degree in Psychology to coordinate the rehabiliation services.
Rehabilitation & Volunteer Coordinator (Mon-Thu)
Sue joined the Headway Surrey Team in November 2009 and her role is to provide support in the Centre and also out in the community. Sue has a number of years experience of working with people with special needs especially the elderly and in social care and has NVQ 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care.
Rehabilitation & Carers Coordinator
Rowena joined Headway Surrey in August 2016, as a support worker in the Centre and also out in the community. Previously an experienced retail manager, she decided to work in a special school for boys with behavioural problems and autism. In particular, observating and spotting triggers of a learned behaviour that need to be changed. She has an NVQ3 in Challenging Behaviour and a Diploma in Counselling.
Rehabilitation Assistant (Part-time, Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri)
Jo joined us as a volunteer in February 2018 and in April 2018 she became a paid part-time member of staff. Her role at Headway is to support clients at the Centre and also out in the community using her previous vast experience in Special Needs Education.
Volunteer Coordinator (Part-time, Tue & Thu)
Marie started as an office admin volunteer and now is growing our team of volunteers. She has a wealth of experience dealing with all types of people and abilities. You are warmly welcomed to make enquiries.
- Staff are also trained in First Aid and Mental Health First Aid.
