GeneralWHAT IS HEAD INJURY?Damage to the brain from a head injury can result in physical, emotional, psychological and practical problems. Suddenly, one's whole life expectations may change. Career prospects, relationships with family and friends, personal goals and ambitions may change in an instant. HOW CAN WE HELP?HEADWAY house is located in Guildford and accommodates our main office, our day facility and acts as a base for our Community Support Co-ordinator. The day facility offers individuals the opportunity to re-learn lost skills and re-adjust to life after a head injury. It is open 3 days a week. The office has a helpline to answer any enquiries and is available 24hrs a day. HEADWAY Staff will return all calls left on the answer phone outside office hours, by the next working day. The Community Support Co-ordinator is available to meet and discuss problems either by phone or face-to-face (depending on visiting schedule). The Community Support Co-ordinator also facilitates the regular support meetings for anyone affected by head injury, shares information about access to other local services and can provide a focal point for support into employment following a head injury. HEADWAY Surrey also lobbies for improved services and promotes activities which aim to reduce the incident of head injury. COME AND MEET US We have a drop in service, which is open every Friday from 10.30 to 3pm at Headway House in Guildford (7 Faraday Road, GU1 1EA). This is open to ANYONE who is affected by Head Injury, families and carers are welcome. CAN YOU HELP US?HEADWAY Surrey could not continue to provide services without the help of our Volunteers in the centre, or without fundraising. In order to keep our services running, we rely on fundraising through the kind support of local groups, individuals, companies and Charitable Trusts.
